Meet the Author

A year and a half ago, Dwight Norris, local author, met an African-American man whom Dwight thought to be about 70, in E Pollo Loco in Apple Valley. They chatted in line, and met again at the drink vending area. Impulsively, but out of curiosity also, Dwight asked, "So What's your story?" 
"What?" asked the man. 
"You just look like you'd have a story to tell. What's yours?" 
The man, whose name was Sandy, thought a moment and said, "Well, I guess that all I am and any good I may have done in life is all due to my father." 
They had lunch together, which turned into a two and a half-hour discussion during which Dwight began taking notes. He knew that this was going to be his next book. 
Sandy was actually 96 years old. 
The book is now published. It's called "The Story of Sandy Armistead . A Black Man's Journey in a White Man's World."
